The journal "Vestnik of Lobachevsky University of Nizhni Novgorod" publishes the results of research in the form of articles, overviews, reports, reviews, conference papers in the following areas:
1) in Historical sciences (from 01.02.2022):

- 5.6.3. Archaeology;
- 5.6.5. Historiography, source studies, methods of historical research;
- 5.6.7. History of international relations and foreign policy;
2) in legal sciences (from 02.08.2023):
- 5.1.1. Theoretical and historical legal sciences;
- 5.1.2. Public law (state law) sciences;
- 5.1.3. Private law (civil law) sciences;
- 5.1.4. Criminal law sciences;
3) in philological sciences (from 02.08.2023) :
- 5.9.5. Russian language. Languages of the peoples of Russia;
- 5.9.8. Theoretical, applied and comparative linguistics.
Goals and objectives:
- providing effective opportunities for the exchange of relevant scientific data inside the scientific community;
- providing readers with the latest trends and theories in the field of historical, legal, linguistic studies, developed both in Russia and abroad, and their practical application;
- publication of research results;
- providing scientific dialogue, broadcasting different points of view on topical issues of history, law and linguistics.
Criteria for selection of papers: determined by the objectivity of assessments and compliance with scientific ethics, as well as the development, argumentation and promotion of new ideas in the field of social and humanitarian knowledge. Only high-level research papers on theoretical and practical problems of History, Philology and modern Law are accepted for publication. The journal considers for publication only articles that meet its requirements and successfully passed the review (regardless author's scientific degree and merits) carried out by members of the editorial Board in accordance with their research field or by external avowed experts in case of absence among member of the Editorial team experts in the field of presented materials. The editorial Board pays special attention to the work of graduate students and young scholars engaged in advanced research.
Readership: the journal is intended for a wide audience: bachelor, master and PhD degree students, young scholars, teaching and research staff of universities training lawyers, practitioners. The journal would be also of interest to foreign audiences, as some articles are published in English, there are annotations in English as well.
Established in: 1998. Until 2007, the journal was published in series (separate volumes on specific sciences). The following series existed: biology, physics, economics and finance, history, law, philology, chemistry, innovation in education, international relations, radiophysics, and mathematics. Currently, the journal is multidisciplinary and contains three sections: «History», «Law», and «Philology». During its existence, the journal has not been renamed or translated. Only the number of sections and issues has changed (since 2015, it has been published in six issues).
