The author analyzes the rhythm and its importance for the reflection of mythological and the construction of artistic worlds. The purpose of the article is to prove that the rhythm is a fundamental ontological category and the basic primary element that produces the typological affinity of various cosmogonic myths and genealogical relationship between mythology and literary creation. Different mythological systems, including individual ones, cannot avoid the rhythm in the structuring of the world. The rhythm binds together the Universe and poetry, therefore, poetry is the visible reflection of the world harmony. The words by E.A. Poe - «The Rhythmical Creation of Beauty» - became an axiom for works of Symbolism poets, who introduced the concept of «rhythm-and-sense». The rhythm was the central concept of their culturology, and also the basis for the epoch’s image manifested in poetic myth (A. Bely).
