| This article examines the problem of Coptic issue’s perception by shaikhs of al-Azhar as the most influential Muslim scholars in Egypt. A definition of the term «Coptic issue» is given and a periodization of ‘ulama’ attitude to this issue is constructed by identifying the main features of their viewpoints on Christianity and Copts. |
