In 1915, due to the “self - designation” of Nicholas II as Supreme Commander - in - Chief, the imperial residence - a space of contrasting intersection of “private and official” - moved from the Alexander Palace to the Governor's House of the Stavka, from Tsarskoye Selo to Mogilev, while the Council of Ministers retained its stay in Petrograd. The article analyzes changes in the practice of receptions of ministers when they visit the royal residence based on information in the memoir heritage of former members of the government. The study shows that the change of location entailed a transformation of official etiquette and ceremonies, directly reflected in the acts of political communication at the top of power.
