The purpose of the work is to determine the correlation between the categories of administrative-legal regulation and self-regulation in the modern economy.The research methodology includes such methods as the method of comparative analysis, formal legal method, methods of classification and systematization.The results of the study are provisions that characterize self-regulation as a kind of administrative and legal regulation in the economic and related fields. Based on the analysis of the evolution of the institution of self-regulation, its place in modern mechanisms for regulating economic relations is substantiated.As conclusions, the author established the fact of scientific identification of self-regulation with deregulation. In the structure of self-regulation as an element of public administration, self-control is singled out as a kind of public control. An analysis of the introduction of self-regulation institutions made it possible to differentiate the areas in which its use seems appropriate. It is concluded that external challenges in the modern economy cause a revision of existing approaches to the relationship between administrative and legal regulation and self-regulation (including self-control) in the economy.
