The article presents an overview of doctrinal approaches to the characterization of state control and supervision as an activity related to interference with the freedom of a private person, and the constitutional principles of control and supervision activities. Certain aspects of control and supervision activity are outlined, which, according to the authors, are of fundamental importance for the development of the theoretical foundations of state control and supervision in a system with other types of administrative activity. In terms of the Chinese experience of scientific research, both Russian and foreign legal research in the field of state control are of interest. There is a point elaboration of the problems devoted to this topic in domestic legal science, but at the same time, promising legal problems for future research are clearly traced, which include the problems of distinguishing between the basic theoretical concepts of the definitions of the Chinese doctrine of administrative law («control and supervision», «state control», «administrative control»), issues of certain types of public control.
