The strategic aim is, based on the analysis of the logical-philosophical and psychological approaches to these terms, to identify the special aspects of their use in linguistics, distinguishing between intentionality and intensionality, on the one hand, and intent and communicative intention, on the other, to establish the objective reasons for their differentiation, and also, having discovered systemic properties of the intentionality in relation to the language, to qualify it. Comparing different points of view of members of analytical philosophy and psychology, the author allows the use of the term intentionality in a broad sense in the aspect of representing an event in the speaker conscience (proposition of a judgment) and its potential explication in transparent contexts and, as opposed to opaque ones, complicated by pragmatic factors that form subjective meaning statement, prefers the term intensionality . Observing the functioning of the term intent in modern linguistic concepts, the author establishes the specifics of its use in the functional aspect as a communicative intention and in the semantic aspect as a purpose, destination of a specific action. Based on the semantic criterion, he qualifies intentionality as a semantic category, as obligatory features (properties) of linguistic phenomena that have an intentional component in their semantic structure, indicates awareness and anticipation.
