The given article is concerned with the specific features of business documentation translation (based on instructions texts). Needs analysis of instructions texts translation in the activity of any business enterprise is justified. The requirements of legal documents translation aimed at adequate perception and understanding the necessary information in manuals of utilizing imported equipment by Russian-speaking specialists are composed of. The interpretation of the concept «instruction» made by leading linguists and translators is given. The main characteristics of scientific-technical style of speech are analyzed. Classification of types of instructions, their structure and genre-stylistic features are presented. As a result of investigating this phenomenon it has been found that all these specific features are based on such characteristics of official-business style of speech as precision and language standard which will be useful for the beginners as well as experienced translators in their professional activity.
