The article raises the question of the dangers and new challenges for university education that have arisen as a result of the development of artificial intelligence. In the public space and in the scientific community, the topic of using the capabilities of generative artificial intelligence, in particular ChatGPT technologies, in various fields of human intellectual activity is becoming more and more in demand. The opinions of experts vary dramatically. Some believe that this neural network poses a real threat to university education, since students can use its capabilities in bad faith and without a critical analysis of the results. Others offer options for using the positive potential of AI in the field of education. The authors suggest that in the future the scope of AI technologies will only expand, and therefore, it is necessary to respond adequately to these trends. For example, it is proposed to change the traditional methodology for evaluating the results of law students' studies: to cancel the writing of term papers and final qualifying papers, replacing them with oral exams or writing creative work in the form of an essay or a court speech by a prosecutor, lawyer, or court decision, directly in the classroom in the presence of a teacher.
