Currently, the relevance of combating such a threat to Russia's security as acts of sabotage is recognized at the official level. Historical experience shows that the fight against sabotage is an important area of ensuring state security. The social danger of sabotage increases in proportion to the growth in the intensity of development of destructive factors in the situation. The article draws attention to the relationship between sabotage and interference in the internal affairs of states through the so-called «color revolutions».The purpose of this work is to study the problems associated with organizing legal counteraction to sabotage. The article examines problematic issues arising in connection with the need to criminalize this phenomenon, taking into account modern challenges and threats. The following methods were used during the study: comparative analysis, systematization, induction, deduction. In order to form a unified approach to the legal regulation of the fight against sabotage, organizing an effective and adequate counteraction to this threat to the security of Russia, it is proposed to legislate the criminal legal grounds and mechanisms to counter it in accordance with the principles of validity and legality, as well as attributing the fight against sabotage to the jurisdiction of the FSS of Russia. A version of the new article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation 281.4 «Sabotage» is presented and justified.
