This article is devoted to creolized texts - texts that include two inhomogeneous plans (verbal and nonverbal) in the structure. Creolized texts are represented in variety in the media, and it is the need for their comprehensive description that determines the relevance of the work. The purpose of the research is to study and describe the features of the functioning of creolized texts in the Russian media. The works of Russian philologists on the functions of this type of texts were studied, criteria for describing these functions were determined and justified. The list of criteria includes: essence, relevance, purpose, means of implementation, genre manifestation. The features of the implementation of universal and specific functions of creolized texts in the media were described based on these criteria on the material of 120 texts taken from the portal Lenta.ru for the period from 2012 to 2023.
