This article examines the attitude of the church periodical press to the participation of Orthodox clergy in the eletions to the First State Duma of the Russian Empire. The source base is articles and publications in all-Russian church newspapers and magazines published in the capitals («Theological Bulletin», «Faith and the Church», «Good Word», «Missionary Review», «Christian Reading», «Church Reports», «Church Bulletin», «Church Voice»). and provinces («Faith and Reason», «Parish Life», «Church and Public Bulletin»). The relation of the church periodical press to the establishment of the State Duma is shown. The main proposals in church circles on the electoral rights of the Orthodox clergy are considered. The main positions on the participation of Orthodox priests in the elections are highlighted: support for autocracy and monarchists, support for constitutional parties, rejection of solidarity with any political parties. The ideological preferences of various publications are shown and political opponents and opponents identified by them are identified. The article examines the attitude of the church press to the phenomenon of Christian socialism. The estimates of church publications given by the results of the elections to the First State Duma are revealed.
