Abstract
S.I. Arkhangelsky`s research papers on agrarian history of the Nizhni Novgorod province are analyzed. S.I. Arkhangelskys methods are considered, with a special focus on the «local method». The importance of S.I. Arkhangelsky` s research for the Nizhni Novgorod local history development is underlined.
