The paper is focused on specific features of Old-Russian monastic reading. Following the tradition, monastery libraries included three main parts: service books, cathedral reading books, cloister books. Cloister books were regulated with specific bibliographies known in academic literature as «true books indices». According to their changes, it is possible to follow the development of cloister reading in Russian monasteries. The performed analysis shows that cloister reading, despite its diversity, was regarded as a complex system, upon the whole accepted as Holy Scripture. |
