A historical and typological analysis of women's press is presented. Main principles for creating the image of a modern woman in regional editions of the Volga region are considered. It is shown that some publishing houses only use in their newspapers the materials of central newspapers and magazines and do not bother to search for a concrete image of «their» woman, while some others impose false modes of women's behaviour borrowed from the Western press, thus representing women's images far from daily reality. However, there are some editions that display certain originality, try to help in preserving the family, in women's adaptation in the chaos of recent decades, investigate and discuss pressing issues and regional problems. |
