One of Nabokov's early stories, «The Venetian», is investigated as an example of realization of established images, themes, motives in the writings of this author. The themes of the double-world, creation, art as an illusion are present in the story along with the motives of entering a picture, contraposition of life and a work of art, creating artwork. The pairs of contrasting motives: eyesight - blindness, an original - a copy are also considered. All these motives play certain role in creating the images of this story's characters.
