The author considers derivative homonymy as a manifestation of paradigmatic relations at the derivative level. The analysis of derivative types of homonyms is carried out with the account of semantic characterization of derivatives; the realization of main derivative meanings is traced in the Russian and the Spanish languages. By considering derivative homonymy as a consequence of semantic derivation of the words with the meaning of colour, we can reveal certain consistent patterns in both the derivative and lexical-semantic planes, which can be useful in the comprehensive analysis of systematic relations in Russian and Spanish languages and in presenting main regularities and tendencies in Russian and Spanish derivation.
