The article reports a study of the systematic principle realized in interaction and mutual influence of legal terminological systems of Great Britain, the USA, Scotland and some of their territories. The examples from the author's dictionary serve to illustrate the peculiarities of etymology and terminologization of the meanings of the linguistic substratum of the terminological signs, as well as the peculiarities of their terminological superstratum, which led to the development of semantic variation of legal terms in the English-language terminological systems listed above.
