Proverbs as precedent texts contain value priorities, which include various types of evaluation of a particular society. The concept of evaluation is closely related to the concept of value. The focus of our present study is on the paremiological characteristics of the concept «beauty». To perform the study, we considered aphorisms and proverbs in the English and Russian languages to identify the differences in the respective semantic pictures of the world. The data for the study was a continuous sampling from phraseological and idiomatic dictionaries of English and Russian, the dictionaries and collections of English and Russian proverbs and aphorisms.
