Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth syndrome is an acute problem that has been intensively studied by experts in different fields of public health service. However, this problem is little known to a wide range of practitioners. The syndrome very often occurs in patients with chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. In this paper, we report the study of the aspirates from the duodenum of the patients with H.pylori-associated gastroduodenitis. Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth syndrome was confirmed bacteriologically in 53.8% of the patients and in most cases was due to the excessive amount of Bifidobacterium, Staphylococcus and Lactobacillus.
