German woodcuts of the Reformation Bibles were created both by late Gothic artists and the masters of the German Renaissance. Their compositional schemes and spatial solutions synthesized the legacy of the late Gothic with the Renaissance artistic achievements. In some of these woodcuts, the fundamental elements of Baroque style are manifested. |
