The author promotes her thesis according to which news agencies continue to play a core role in the Internet mass-media. According to the author, current development like presence of “old school” media in the Internet, social media boost, constantly emerging client oriented Internet services can only strengthen the position occupied by modern news agencies. The author analyzes the role played by Russian news agencies as an integral part of the large Internet media family and gives her prospective on their future development. The most influential and the best developed Russian news agencies like Interfax, Novosti, Regnum and Prime are chosen by the author to illustrate her theses.
