Abstract
Processes of deformation and fracture in a broad range of geometry and types of objects, types and parameters of actions (intensity and duration) are inherent to modern high technologies. The actions often include actions of physical fields and active media along with mechanical loads. The need for the description of these processes, optimization of technological parameters and prediction of mechanical characteristics of the products lead to new fundamental problems of solid mechanics (SM). The present paper reviews the characteristic classes of arising SM problems, approaches and examples of their solving. The paper is partly based on the results obtained by the present authors and their colleagues.
