We consider the concept of the shadow economy and shadow finance, the origins of this concept, and its role in the modern world. It is a mistake to believe that only the Russian Federation is exposed to the effects of the shadow econo- my. Unfortunately, the term «corruption» that is often used in relation to the Russian economy is applicable not only to our country. To a varying degree, it affects all countries in Europe and Asia, and even the United States, one of the world’s strongest economies.
