Abstract
During the reign of Sultan Abdul Hamid II, symbols of imperial power aimed at its visualization began to emphasize the Islamic nature of the state institutions. Traditional oriental symbols that returned to the policy of the Sultan's power were strangely intertwined with the previously common European symbolism.
