| Throughout her life Sylvia Plath dealt with images of doubles, seeking to identify herself and those surrounding her with other people and sometimes even with inanimate objects, creating doubles both in life and in literature. «Ariel» contains her later poems, full of pain and despair, which explains the character of the doubles created in the poems, dom- inated by cold and death. |
