The article deals with evaluation type statements relating to the praise speech genre. The aim of the research is limited to the study of the characteristics, which are most important for understanding the specifics of the genre, the factors of the author and the addressee. As a result of the study, a «role triangle» of praise has been defined; we have also identified communicative and semantic roles whose interaction is presented in standard role models, as well as in special role combinations of indirect praise, praise in one's absence, quasi- and self-praise.
