Abstract
The article discusses the use by medical students of the method for associative learning of Latin words. The aim of this work was to identify the significance of the associative method as a mechanism for memorizing the Latin terminology. For this purpose, we used the following methods: a theoretical analysis of scientific and popular literature, a questionnaire survey and an analysis of its results, summarization and systematization of the information obtained. After analyzing the questionnaire data and the materials studied, we have come to the conclusion that the associative method is the most convenient and effective mechanism for memorizing Latin terminology, as it does not require any specialized knowledge on the part of the students. Associations help to avoid rote learning and reduce the amount of time required to memorize Latin medical terminology. With this method, students develop their imaginative and creative thinking, since each person builds individual images in one’s mind. In our opinion, this explains why this method is so popular among the students.
