The paper presents the results of researching six handmade vessels from the 2015-2016 excavation of Il’ich-1 settlement situated in the Taman peninsula. They were found at the levels dated to the 1st-3rd century C.E. and probably to the Hellenistic time. These vessels were investigated using the method of technological analysis developed by A.A. Bobrinsky. Taking into account the way their shapes, clay composition, firing conditions and use (in one case) differ from handmade pottery of the antique time from Asiatic Bosporus and nearest territories, the author supposes that they could be made in the Greek pottery tradition. The author believes that in order to identify the Greek vessels found in the monuments of the Northern Black Sea region, it is absolutely necessary to take into account information on the technology of their manufacture and use as well as the data on the shapes of hand-molded ceramics found in Greek metropolies.
