In 2019, the 250th anniversary is celebrated of the birth of Alexei Arakcheev, one of the most controversial statesmen in Russian history. The article analyzes the correspondence of Count Arakcheev, which has an impressive information potential in relation to the study of the history of the Russian Empire in the first quarter of the 19th century. The source considered by the authors complements the historical portrait of A.A. Arakcheev and presents a wider picture of his professional and personal communication. Arakcheev’s epistolary heritage adds some new details to the characteristics of Russia’s domestic and foreign policy of this era.
