The article examines the process of institutional stabilization of the Soviet family in the 1920s. To some extent, this stabilization was achieved after the civil war and the weakening of family foundations. It is shown that the manifestations of such stabilization include: the recognition of the family’s special role in the functioning of economic aspects of public life; the development of the social security system for the family; the changes in the law aimed to consolidate the general principles of family property and the greater equality between spouses, etc. We also analyze some mistakes in the family policy during this period, which were reflected in an unjustified liberalization of some procedural issues of marital relations. However, these shortcomings only partially hindered the process of stabilization of the Soviet family in the period under review.
