The article represents some characteristics of syntactic organization of Old Russian narrative forms peculiar to the narrative technique of «pletenie sloves» («the weaving of the words»). The aim of the study is to analyze the specific features of expression of syntactic cohesion between elements of a simple sentence-utterance with different types of complication of its grammatical structure. In this work, we use the methods of diachronic structural-semantic analysis of syntactic constructions. The materials for the analysis are the texts of «Hagiography of St. Stephen of Perm» and «Hagiography of St. Sergius of Radonezh». The phenomena of syncretism in the grammatical structure of a simple sentence as a reflection of «fuzziness» of syntactic connections are examined; different types of bonds of its grammatical elements are described. It is concluded that the ambiguity of grammatical connections between elements of a simple sentence, along with other elements complicating its structure, serves the main purpose of creating «the weaving of the words» texts: the very form of writing should evoke reverence, a sense of trepidation before the unknowableness of the essence of the Holy One.
