This paper describes the structure of the October-December readings of the Festal Menaion of the Academy of Sciences Library 21.4.4 (New 928). There are thirteen readings in the book referring to this period of the year. They include the readings of praise most frequently encountered in manuscript books of the 14th - 16th centuries: to the Protection of the Virgin (No. 22), to the Nativity of Jesus Christ (Nos. 27, 29), to the congregation of the Virgin (Nos. 30, 31). The readings Nos. 30, 31 represent one work of Epiphany of Cyprus, but probably in different versions. The reading in memory of St. Andrew the First-called (No. 17), which was added to the book in the 19th century, was written by John Chrysostom. The authorship of the readings for the Nativity No. 27 by John Chrysostom and No. 29 by Basil the Great is questionable. The following two articles will be devoted to the description of other readings of this Festal Menaion.
