The article discusses some theoretical assumptions for identifying syntactically non-free phrases and the principles of their definition in the texts of the newspaper and journalistic style. The result of the analysis of non-free phrases shows the variability that often occurs when trying to identify syntactic non-free phrases in which no comletive semantic relations arise and which are attributed to speech phrases. It is also necessary to take into account that the inseparability of the components of such phrases is quite often influenced by the context.
