Abstract
The article presents a contrastive linguo-culturological description of the content and language objectification of verbal embodiment of the unique Russian cultural concept «l’ubov’» («love») and the corresponding Chinese concept. The study is based on the material of main Russian and Chinese dictionaries. Both Russian and Chinese versions show an extremely wide volume of verbalized spheres, situations and objects towards which the attribute of love can be predicated. Our findings are that all the sense components of the Russian cultural concept «l’ubov’» («love») are mainly presented in Chinese, but they are realized in different words that are unrelated semantically and historically. This is due to the differences in the degree of differentiation of the conceptual space, in the character of the feeling and in the intensity of its manifestation, as well as to the type of objects of this feeling. The Russian concept demonstrates a trend to spiritual, «celestial» dimension, whereas its Chinese analogue is mainly intended for «earthly» embodiment.
