Using a square-gradient model of the interface structure for one-component polarizable and magnetizable fluids, the dependence of surface tension on static electromagnetic field strength is found. It is shown that the form of this dependence may influence drastically on the stability of a free fluid surface even at moderate field values when the rate of change of surface tension is small. |
