Abstract
The problem of prediction of the steady flame spread rate is considered. The boundary-value problem was analyzed using finite element method with two approaches applied to the formulation of the system of algebraic equations: the weighed residuals for the differential conservative equation and the variational formulation for the local thermodynamic potential.
