A rigid inclined plate was fixed on a rail-trolley and was able to move along a 1.5 x 1.5 m cross-section channel filled with water. Plane periodical progressive waves were produced inside the channel. The effect of the plate moving against waves was observed and measured. A the dependence of the velocity of the plate on the wave parameters and geometry of the plate was studied. Using Boussinesq-type dynamic ODE system, initially introduced by Nwogu, a wave profiles were obtained and compared with the experimentally measured ones, showing close coincidence. Wave-induced plate momentum were estimated.
