Two methods of simulation of turbulent jet noise are considered. The first method is based on RANS approach with « k -e» turbulence model flow calculations and uses approximate semi-empirical relations to calculate jet noise. An alternative method is based on the use of LES jet flow calculations, combined with the concept of Kirchhoff surface and some integral form of the acoustic wave equation ( FWH equation). Results of the simulation of jet noise are presented, and compared with experimental data. The potential and drawbacks of both the approaches are analyzed.
