Аннотация

Рассматривается зависимость образа Нила в римской литературе от исторических событий конца I в. до н.э. Отмечается, что представления о Ниле носили противоречивый характер: с одной стороны, Нил становится экзотическим пространством, которое, в свою очередь, является частью воображаемого (фантазийного) Египта, восхищавшего римлян; с другой стороны, в рамках новой имперской идеологии Нил отождествляется со злейшим врагом Рима - Клеопатрой, олицетворяя угрозу Риму. Делается вывод, что в исследуемый период, особенно в конце I в. до н.э. - начале I в. н.э., восприятие Нила римскими писателями основывалось, скорее, не на личных впечатлениях от созерцания окружающего мира, а на определенных литературных топосах и идеологических клише.
