| Рассматриваются пассажи из «Похвалы Риму» Элия Аристида, в которых Римcкая империя сопоставляется с великими державами прошлого, существовавшими у персов, афинян, спартанцев, македонян. Установлено, что концептуальный характер подобных аналогий заключался, с одной стороны, в репрезентации римской державы как своего рода «конца истории», а с другой стороны, в выражении взвешенного, а местами даже критического отношения к некоторым аспектам имперских реалий. Вместе с тем империя, даже при осознании и подсвечивании определенных издержек, воспринята и представлена аудитории как часть общего для греков и римлян бытия и исторического опыта, как общее для всех пространство, где и Европа, и Азия в конечном итоге оказываются включенными в единый в политическом и культурном отношении греко - римский мир. |
