Аннотация

Рассматривается восприятие римлянами египетских зооморфных культов, и исследуются причины тенденциозного отношения римского общества к египетской религии. Отмечается, что представление о египетской религии среди римских авторов объединяет ряд особенностей: полное неприятие традиционных зооморфных египетских верований, с одной стороны, и восхищение экзотическим характером египетской культуры и религии – с другой. Автор приходит к выводу, что в римском восприятии египетские культы животных могли существовать только в качестве примера чего-то презренного и нелепого, подходящего только для сатирического рассказа или в качестве аргумента в различных диспутах.
