Дается обзор новейшей дискуссии о романизации Британии, рассматривается социокультурный контекст современных научных дебатов. Автор анализирует традиционный взгляд на романизацию, сформулированный Ф. Хэверфилдом в начале XX в. Пересмотр взглядов Ф. Хэверфилда ознаменовал начало нового этапа в изучении Римской Британии. Д. Мэттингли и другие современные исследователи полагают, что теория романизации была продуктом колониальной эпохи, и предлагают альтернативные подходы, прежде всего – исследование идентичностей. |
