Abstract
The article presents an analysis of written business communication in the Republic of Korea, where, according to Confucian principles of the world order, the strict principles of interpersonal communication are determined by social orientation both in the personal and professional spheres of interaction. The main types of Korean business correspondence are considered. Structural and substantial characteristics of this type of text are explored in order to identify their universal and linguacultural features. This is vital for achieving a better understanding of the functions of business communication in the Republic of Korea and for identifying the communication characteristics in the aspect of national identity. A proper understanding of the specific linguacultural features of business letter can be used to eliminate cognitive dissonance barriers while establishing and strengthening business links with South Korean partners.
