The interpretation of «Ancient Rus'» as a starting point in the history of the East Slavic world is very common in the modern historiography. Using narrative sources of the 16th and the first quarter of the 17th century, we aim to identify the main narrative discourses of ancient Russian history in these sources. During the studies of the relevant subjects in the Russian chronographs and Eastern European narratives, we can understand the place of the legacy of «Ancient Rus'» in a global context and in the history of different medieval states according to the scribes.
