This article presents a discursive analysis of ambassador’s reports of Russian diplomatic books concerning the relations between Russia and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Poland in 1494 - 1583. We note some distinguishing features of the monarchy of Poland and Lithuania as reflected in Russian ambassador’s reports. The analysis concerns the sphere of political culture of the Muscovite Rus' and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, which influenced the way the Russian ambassadors conveyed foreign realities.
