The article describes the sacred semiotics of E. Vodolazkin's novel «Lavr». The main content of this semiotics is the unconventional conception of a name, theological doctrine of silence and the Pentecost, and the symbolism of names. The purpose of the article is to identify the semiotic (language) means for expressing one of the key ideas of the novel - the iconic similarity of social and personal events at different periods of human life. In our study, we used the methods of immanent analysis of a literary text with the application of the theoretical framework of general linguistics and theological tools. As a result of the work, we have established a number of semiotic (linguistic) parallels of symbolic type that make it possible not only to better follow the plot line of the text, but also to clearly see the ideological and poetic specifics in its compositional structure.
