The article introduces the hoard of kufic coins of the early 970s found in the environs of Smirnovo village in the Nizhni Novgorod region. All the coins of the hoard are listed, their dynastic, geographic and chronological distributions are examined. Characteristic features of the hoard common to a number of synchronous complexes of the Oka river basin are identified. Particular attention is given to its special features - the unusual dynastic composition and predominance of dirhams of Volga Bulghars' Amir ‘Abdallah b. Mikail. The author comes to the conclusion about the importance of the hoard as a valuable source for studying the circulation of Muslim coin silver in Eastern Europe and the Oka river basin, trade links with Volga Bulgharia and investigation of its coinage.
