Abstract
The article highlights a clash of Austria-Hungarian and Russian interests in the Balkan region in the early twentieth century and ideological confrontation between Emperor Franz Joseph I and Archduke Franz Ferdinand on the issues of internal policy of Austria-Hungary. Also, the article proposes a point of view on ‘trialism’ as an institutional project of anti-crisis management for the Empire.
