The article elaborates on neoderivatives applied for attributing people (agentives) that are used in a language (word formation) game. The study includes the data from dictionaries of new words of 1971-2014, the Russian National Corpus, and mass media texts. Our structural and semantic analysis of neologisms has identified the corpus of the units, whose pragmatics is related to language game. Word formation ways and derivation models have been identified that provide a pattern for forming the agentives involved in the game. Varieties of language game are identified. A conclusion is made that there is a deep connection between modern language game and riddles.
